I have a 92 f-150 5.0 liter, and the power doorlocks don't work right, the power doorlocks work at locking on the passenger button, it locks both doors, but won't unlock, and the driver button doesn't work at all, I've already tested the switches, and they're working fine, mine is an XLT model truck any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!
It would appear that you may have problems in your wiring. Check for adequate contact where your switches connect to the loom. Consider using a small dab of bulb grease on any contacts that appear to be corroded (after lightly sanding away the corrosion). If that does not eliminate the problem, next check the continuity of each wire using an ohmmeter. (BTW: remember to disconnect your battery first).
Also check each wire in the circuit to ascertain if it might be shorted to another. Breaks in the wires can occur in the section that passes through the flexible tunnel between door and cab pillar; especially in a truck the age of yours or mine. These wires flex each time you open the door, so eventually one or more of them will give out. The wire ends in a break may be held close to each other by the insulation &/or the tape wrap and give an intermittent failure condition as the ends sometimes touch & sometimes do not.
If this is the problem, replacing the section of the problem wire that goes through the tunnel by splicing it in the door and in the A-pillar might be best, since this would eliminate the bulkiness in a tight area that could lead to another early failure.
Also, try pulling the pannels, and where the wires come through the door to the switch they pass through a hole with sharp edges, my door wires all got sliced up here and made a nasty mess in the fues pannel from the circut braker reseting and then poping, it melted the fues block for the windows and door locks.
