HERE IN OTTAWA CANADA IT IS -40 DEGREES CELCIUS FRREEEZZINNGG COLD.
Anyway, when i start my truck in this cold weather, it makes a loud screeching sound for about 10 seconds.
my 1992 f150 never did it and it still doesn't after all these years.
This truck ,the04 f150 regular cab flareside 5.4 engine is doing it.
Is this normal , is anyone else experiencing this brutal cold and having this screeching sound?
I only have 800 kms on it , had it a month now.
Feedback would be appreciated.
thanks
rick
We just got cold weather in Chicago.I have the same sound on cold start up.I also have it in some other cars i own. I believe it to be the power steering pump going into bypass mode to keep from doing damage to the pump. The sound has never given me any problem. It is gone before i get out of my driveway.
