Latest "Re-Flash" Number???
If you win... you will receive a new (slightly abused by Ford Engineering) truck with a defective 6.0L PSD that leaks rear main seal oil, diesel fuel into the crankcase, clunking noise when shifting into drive, wires that chaff and goes it not to start, smoke on start-up, higher noise level than what you think your getting, blown turbo due to the diesel in the oil.... and probably more by the time you recieve it!!!
Just a joke and it sounded funny as I was writing it (pretty bad considering Ford "hangs their hat" on their PSD motor and customers!!!
All that, and I love my 03 Excursion, but I only have had the "clunking noise" that they claim they found and are fixing (I'll report when I pick it up tomorrow.
I am getting the latest flash upgrade which was reported on this site (I think) as RC-7 (running change 7) WDS level: B28.0.9. This re-flash came out 12/12/03.
I just read on another site that a new re-flash is now available and is numbered B28.1? Is this correct?
Any Ford techs out there Know if a new "flash" was introduced since the one on 12/12/03? If so, what does it correct or modify?
This is the question that could win you the truck mentioned above. If you still want it (ha, ha). Sorry, no 04's are available, people want those trucks!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL
The question, of course relates to the 6.0L PSD, otherwise I would not beon this site asking the question.
OK, now for "Double Jeopordy". The questions are and were:
1) Is flash 28.1 the most recent (for the 6.0L - duh)?
2) If so, what does it correct or modify?
3) If it is, when was it available.
When I pick up my truck tomorrow, how to I tell or can the diesel mechanic tell me... and should I (or need) to have it noted on my paperwork, or is this "overkill" and I am acting like a jerk?
Thank you in advance.
My first dealer I use to go to did not get the October flash until November. They said they were waiting for a disk. My new dealer has the 12/12 flash, and I will ask tomorrow if they have the January one and if it is for my 6.0L PSD?
When I went to the dealer about the 12/12 flash, they told me that Ford would only pay if I complained of a particular symptom. On a different thread or site (can't remember), I printed out all flash updates and what they fixed (or tried to).
I told him that I am complaining about cold weather high altitude engine start-up and performance... said I drove to Denver, CO for Christmas... Guess what, the 12/12 flash update is/was to correct cold weather high altitude performance.
I told him that he better not call me a liar and just do it and Ford has no option but to pay!!!
I to can play games... probably just as good as Ford can!!!
Keep Strok'n (doesn't sound so bad now that I own a diesel)
Bye

Tell as many as you can about this thread.
The simpler the writing (posting) of “problem/odometer” reading………….the easier it will be to collate. Do not need many words. I must reduce all the date into a usable format; extra words will take more time to complete.

thanks for the info. My truck has had two flashes last being the oct 3. Still having problem with no power when pulling trailer uphill, 55 max could do 70 plus before ever flashed. Hoping 12-12 will fix problem???
