Product bashing

After reading all the posts about what to put on the undercarriage and the various opinions posted, I feel I should post a followup to show where I come from when giving a opinion on a product/procedure/tip etc.. I have been a frequent poster/lurker on a couple of internet diy'er autobody/paint boards, going on three years now . I found myself purchasing all of those auto painting board owner instructional tapes, and reading hundreds of posts on how to repair/paint vehicles, and asking many , many, questions on those forums. I acquired the little bit of knowledge I now have about repair /paint strictly from those boards, and by my doing all the work on my restore myself, except for the engine ..
I try not to participate in product bashing, because there are always many factors as to why someone may really want to use brand "x" product. They may base there decision to buy brand X because of price only, or availability, or all of their family and friends love it, or whatever. Regardless of why, I try not to tell people a product is "bad" just because I dont use it. I base my "preference" on a product simply from two factors, my own experience, and learning from other pros and diy'ers from the other paint boards I visit. When pro's on these boards show me proof of the reliabilty or integrity of a particular product, that they use very often in their professional business, and along with other diy'ers chiming in with applause, THAT generally gets my full attention for at least trying the product /procedure..
To me, that is the beauty of these internet forums , "knowledge consumption" pure and simple, one gets to learn how to do it right and NOT duplicate anothers mistake. By simply putting a product /subject name in our search browser and hitting the "enter" key, we get to go to a vast universe of data , on just about any product or hobby known. And then, everyone that learns from this research gets to work on their projects, and then come on great boards like FTE and share their experiences, good or bad, and everyone justs gets to keep on learning and learning ,and sharing their knowledge.
To me, thats just too cool, so have fun on your projects, but be armed with knowledge, before taking the first bolt out. I wasnt, and had to learn the hard way,($$$$$) because I started my project WAY before I got on the internet, and found the "knowledge" of the thousands of people that are doing , or have already done what am doing now, and are now sharing THEIR knowledge with others like me. good luck on your projects !

Worked longer, harder then most ever will !

I never had a new car, born in 1967.

I know what works and what don't.

So why bash what does not??

PROMOTE WHAT WORKS WITH HONESTY, Thats my policy !
