I am thinking about buying the superchip programmer. How are these products to operate? Are there good instructions? Do you need abundant knowledge about engines and transmission to use this product? And is the system worth it? I just need some more information before I can pull that $300+ trigger. Hey....where is the chip located in the vehicle? Sound like a silly question but are they easy to access?
I have Superchip c h i p, I am satisfied with the increase in performance. The chip plugs into an access port in the vehicles computer. This computer is located on the drivers side, under the dash, in the corner, between the firewall and the footwell. It is a bit of PIA to remove the computer and install the chip.
The Superchip programmer that you seek is far easier to install then the chip. The programmer plugs into the diagnostics port. I believe this port is located under the dash, to the right of the steering wheel.
The main difference between the programmer and the chip is that; with the programmer you can tweek settings ( speed limiter, shift points, etc.) the chip needs to be removed and "reburned" to update.
Boxcar, I am no expert on this topic. If you want professional advice, check out the "Computer Chips and Tuners" Forum or click on the "Parts Shop" Link. The administrator of this website, Ken sells the Superchip brand and is a very knowledgable source of information.
