Garages are too small, that's my reason.
As for plywood and drywall, etc,...that's why God made tailgates! What happens when the load is longer than the long bed? You make it work.
Where you live makes all the difference also.
Not all of us live in Alaska nor all of us in downtown Chicago.
Hauling lumber alot? Towing big stuff that needs a long bed? Short beds useless? If might is your requirement, then you ALL bought the wrong truck. Buy a Peterbuilt.
It's the buyers money, and the buyers choice.
As far as the original comment, give the guy a break, he asking for suggestions, not criticism
Can some of you guys with the DRW short box post some pics? Also does anybody know where I can find a picture of the 2 tone patterns on the 2002 F-350's
LAST EDITED ON 01-Nov-01 AT 00:51 AM (EST)[p]FR, you chould be able to get the truck you want without the LE package. I "built" one online and it didn't say that is was required. I think your dealership just wants to get more money out of you.
But having looked at a short bed and seeing how queer it looks I'm definately going with a long bed. I wanted the short bed with the smaller wheel base to make the wife happy but now I see the error of that judgment.
Good replies, but for as often as I use my bed for hauling 8 ft lumber, i would rather have smaller bed, maybe a 5.5ft bed. Hopefully, they'd take it off the wheelbase length as well. Would make it's turning radius smaller as well. All around a much better situation for me. But i'm not a contractor either. Just a everyday joe who pulls a boat, a travel trailer, and a trailer with quads...
Obviously, a lot of people prefer the long bed and a lot of people prefer the short bed. I need the long bed for hauling a lot of stuff, plywood, sheetrock, logs, firewood, appliances, furniture, etc. The extra space is VERY useful and often saves having to make a second trip. I really wanted a crew cab, but got the super cab with longbed instead so that it would fit in my garage.
I've had long beds and short beds. I got tired of fighting the CC long beds after 14 years, so my last two trucks have been short beds. I must admit you sacrifice room with the short bed, but if I need to haul something my short bed can't handle, I just strap on my 35' gooseneck and I can haul just about anything that my PSD can handle. I would hardly call the short beds "worthless" because I work mine pretty hard and it has not let me down yet..........I have never had to leave anything behind because my S/D CC shortbed was not up for the challenge.
