clutch size
Hi Folks, A long time reader and short time member, purchased a 1972 ford in worse shap than I thought. Needs a lot of work. But right now I am going to replace the clutch. I have been shopping on line and noticied there are a couple on sizes of clutch ie: 11 in. or 11 1/2 in. is there a standard or will both fit? Thanks for Your Help. PS buyer said engine is 390 ci Vin. shows a Y in vin Y say 360ci. Thanks again Fred.

Some flywheels are set up for two sizes. 11 sounds right. Get a diaphram type. They push in easier and engage smoother.

You are welcome. I have converted two trucks to the diaphram clutch. On one I had to put a stronger spring on the bellhousing yoke to make it feel more normal.
