PCM Location 98 Expedition

Can anyone let me before I have to look where the Powertrain Control Module is located? I am putting in a remote start this weekend and the kit gives the location of where to find the wires (example Drivers Kick Panel, or Ignition, etc.....) and one of the wires is located at the PCM. Anyone that knows where this is located before I tear through my Chilton and Ford Repair CD?

The PCM itself is mounted next to the leftside of firewall in the engine bay. When viewing the truck from the front, it will be to the left of the engine and is physically located below the line of sight and I think it is encased in a mounting shroud to protect it. You should consult your service DVD (that is where I got my information) to make sure, but I think the PCM is mounted with hardware that has to be accessed from inside the cabin and the data/wiring harness connector is also found there. Speculating here. but the mounts/harness are probably located behind the middle/left hand side of the glove box but it may not be all that obvious how to access these components without first reading the service documentation.

PCM is located in the truck on the passenger side behind the kick panel. The plug is located in the engine compartment under the battery. There are 2 bolts which hold the plug to the PCM. They are a P.I.T.A to get to...... but it can be done. When I installed my shift kit I had to get to the PCM wires. It isn't easy... but it can be done.

I installed a remote start on my 99 and made all the connections under dash, everything needed was routed from the PCM to the Kick Panel, Ignition, etc.
Good luck with the project, it's a great add-on; but there is NO room under there!
