I'm almost embarrassed to ask

Is there a trick to locking the tailgate? I tried my key but I can still open the tailgate.

Put key in, turn key to the right then back to center position for locked.

Put key in, turn to the left then back to center position for un-locked.

Is the "right" clockwise or counter-clockwise? My tailgate may be broken.

The right is clockwise. Left is counterclockwise. I hope your lock isn't broken. This always works on both my 2002 and 2003.

Well i think the instructions for locking your tailgate has been covered. But i noticed you have a Retrax bed cover and was wondering how you like it. had a roll n lock on my last truck 02 f150 XLT SC FX4 (roll n lock is 4sale 450.00 excellent condition)
