a bit more detail..... lower the tailgate, raise the support arms and raise the tailgate until you can disconnect the support arms from the tailgate, they line up for removal without removing bolts.
You only have to remove one side, top and bottom, the top with the tailgate open and the bottom with it shut.
After removing the 2 bolts on one side, lift that side of the tailgate and it will come loose easily from the other side.
