Has anyone come up with a solution for the door lock actuators not working properly. Dealer says he will have to analyze the problem and you no how much that will cost.
Marty,
It sounds like I am having the same problem you are having. I just bought my truck about a month ago and the door locks kinda worked sometimes.:7 Despite my better knowledge, I took into the dealer. They charged my $60 and told me the door actuators were bad. Well, each actuator is about $80 from the dealer. They wanted to charge me another $200 to put them in. I told them that they could take that quote and....well I politely said no thanks. Anyway, I am now looking at replacing the actuators myself. Let me know if you find anything out that might solve our problem without a replacement. Thanks, John
I don't know if you are still looking for a solution? I own a F250SD (2001 CC V10) and had a problem with the interior lights remaining on after closing and "locking" the doors. Discovered the door light switch and locking mechanism are one and the same and a bit of WD40 sprayed on the latching mechanism (it was dirty) cleared up the problem!
My truck is in the shop now, will pick it up tomorrow to find out what they did. The service writer said the drivers door switch is usually the problem and reduces the current to all the other doors. Will post the results when I see the invoice. Told the dealer it was embarassing to have people ride in the truck and the locks don't work. Hoping they will pick up the tab.
So what did the Stealer (aka dealer) tell you was wrong. I am having intermittant problems with all four locks on me eXcursion. I will be spraying the WD40 tomorrow morning. Interested in hearing how other people have overcome this.
Interesting... When I first picked up my 00 F250 CC last year, the door light came on and the interior light came on as well.. I went around the truck about eight times, opening and slamming each door to no avail.. A little research on the topic & voila'.! Spray the ***** out of the door latches with PB Blaster & the problem went away.. Now, the left rear passenger door won't open sometimes... Will probably wind up replacing the door latch assembly.. FWIW...
