Throttle body

I have an 1986 f150, N code 5.0L EFI. The motor has a huge 2 port throttle body. Is this right. Can I take this big honking air box hose routed mess off and just put two cone filter in place? Any suggestion on where to get the proper size cone filters?
thanks

yes but not if you had mas cause it might run a little rough. The 1986 5.0 might not have the mass air sensor so you might be good. I have seen a polaris filter clamped on the throttle body of a 2.3 mustang. So find a close enough filter of your choice and clamp it on.

It's a speed density 5.0L EFI

No it does not have a mass air meter. I don't want to modify, just get rid of that mess of an air intake system.

i know so find some cone filters i just wasn't sure if there was any junk along the way. I know advance auto, summit, jegs, jc whitney or whoever have various filters and then its up to you how you won't to put them on. I just seen clamps used and thats good enough for me i don't know how you want it to look. Good luck!

you're going to give up some hp. if you do that as the system as it's designed brings in cool air and that makes hp while hot engine compartment air robs power.
