Where's the mass air flow sensor on a 86 2.9?
I don't have a manual yet for my son's 86 Ranger with the 2.9. All the info that I can find on the mass air flow sensor says it's between the air filter and the throttle body. The original air filter was replace with a cone type filter and aluminum pipe. Is the mass air flow sensor located somewhere else or did someone remove it?
Thanks,
Bobg

It doesn't have a maf... it has a map, which stands for manifold absolute presure. It should be located on the passenger side fender well just a little below the hood. Right above the front passenger tire. Or...fallow the larger vacuum hose from the vacuum port that's off the intake manifold that is up top front on the passenger side. The map sensor will have a vacuum hose and a wire harness plug-in with about 3-4 wires. The map sensor is flat and about 1 1/2 in. by 2 in.
