Alex, before you go and thro a motor at it, make sure you get it diagnosed properly. Hate to see you throw all that into it to find it was just a bad starter. I've seen a rash of bad starters here that made me think rods were knocking.

Good point stepman, never get too carried away with other peoples ideas on whats wrong, if you have a bent rod, you have a cylinder minus some compression, wouldn't it be cool if the bendix on the starter is bad and its just vibrating around. Who knows weirder things have happened.

Naw, not yet. I went and bought a compression gage Friday night but then had to work all weekend. Didn't have time to pull the plugs and test yet. I'm on pins and needles.
