The '08 acted up today. When the Pa-in Law started it today it was fine. When he went to leave the post office he started it and when he released the key the starter continued to crank without let up. He turned the key to the off position and shut it down. He tried to start it again and the dash lit up but it did not even click. After it sat for 30-40 minutes It started just fine. He drove it about 30 miles and went to the bank. I met up with him there and when I tried to start the truck again it lit up but no click. I put my jump box on it but no starter action. I had to leave and do a tow for the police department and when I returned it cranked right up. I let it idle while I delivered it to the dealership for diagnosis and repair. Once it was there it repeated the no start problem.
So here's where things stand, Warm truck no start. Cooled down, it starts.
Let's hear what you think.
As I do the towing for the dealer I'm not worried that I'll get done over.
BTW; I got paid to tow my own truck to the dealer. It was a warranty service tow.
I'm curious to hear what the dealer finds. My 4.6L Mustang had a warm start issue that wasn't as bad. When warm it would crank for about 5 - 8 seconds before starting. When cold she'd turn right over. Had to do with warm air still in the intake sending bad info to the PCM causing the IAC and TB to not open up enough.
glad they fixed it quickly...and that is downright funny that you got paid to tow your own truck
I knew it wasn't the battery as I had tried my jump box and the starter still would not react.
Yes I did get very fast service. It helps to be the towing service for the dealer.
Warranty tow! We do the roadside assist towing for the ford dealer in my town. I had my F-I-L call Roadside and request the tow. So I got paid to tow it. Absolutely on the up and up.
I know this is for the newer models, but I have a similar problem on a 2000 f150, manual trans. dealer code showed low amps after 3 trips, changed battery, OK for 6 months then no start yesterday. cooled down and started OK. how did you locate your problem, was it in the code?
