smog stuff

Hey, new to the site, don't have a truck, but am looking at a truck that will hopefully be mine soon. Anyways, one of the my requirments for it is that it is pre 74, I live in California where we have all the nice smog laws. I want to avoid them if possible. So my question is this truckI am looking at not sure what year it is but I was able to see that had a smog pump on it, did Ford start playing around with smog stuff before 74 or am I just being a wishful thinker by hoping that it is pre 74? It is a F100 Ranger 4x4 not sure exactly what size the motor was but it was a Small block. Thanks

A smog pump means emission controls and I don't recall ever seeing a pre 74 vehicle with a smog pump, so I think not. Check the registration for a definitive answer tho.

I'm in CA too. Them smog laws have caused me all kindsa trouble.
