I used the 4 wheel this weekend for the first time. Went to WV and did a little off road. My ? is does a SD have a possi rear or not. I have the window sticker here and it says 3.73 Ratio regular axle. Right rear tire was the only one spinning in 2 wheel. Then I get out lock the front hubs and procede up hill. Get to a steep part and it spins again only right front and right rear spin what is up with that? I had a light duty 250 and I'm feeling sorry now going to a SD. Any help would be nice.
Thanks
Chuck
Well if your window sticker says reg axle you don't have a limited slip ,which is fords traction lok axle.
The front axle is always going to do what you saw unless its a locker
which is not the right thing for the street
not to be sorry for getting a duty ,just not informed on what you wanted
for options.
I forgot to add when I locked the hubs the first time the left front did not spin at all. I backed down the hill and unlocked and locked the hubs again and then backed up a few feet and tried again. Then the left front grabbed and was under power(spun when hit the throttle). Thanks for the help,
Chuck
You've got what's known as an open differential front and rear.Power is sent to both wheels on each axle until a wheel loses traction and or spins on that particular axle. When this happens all of the power is going to go to the wheel that is spinning on that axle.So if you nail it in the mud, eventually you'll end up with one wheel on the front and one wheel on the rear axle spinning.
I have a perfectly good rear limited slip with 17k miles on it <editted. sorry please use the classified.> its a good deal, and limited slip is a must have! Private message or email for details!
