Hi Guys, went to the boneyard today to get some lockout hubs for my Toyota, and came across a couple of FE's laying out back. I got the casting #'s to see if there worth messing with, $25.00 for either and the guy will deliver it to my house. #1- Ford remanuf ( tag on FT oilpan, bore .060, rods and mains .020 ) block C7ME with a big X in the lifter area, C7TE-C and C8AE-H for heads. #2- block is C7ME-A, with C8AE-H heads. I'm thinking of getting engine #2 for parts if nothing else, and probly the FT oil pan, and main bolt for the oil p/u on the pump. I have no idea if #2 has been rebuilt, but some of the gaskets look to be nonstock. What do you Guys think, is this a score? Many thanks, Al
Ratsmoker, what do these block casting #'s tell you? Does the big X in the lifter galley area mean anything? How about one block being .060 over, bad news? The guy told me all he knew about them was they smoked real bad when he pulled them. Thanks, Al
It is possible you have a 428 and the other would be an FT block. Unless its a 330 I would buy both. The 330 has a smaller than 4" bore. I think it is 3.85 but I am not sure. The crank and rods alone for either is worth well over $25.
Well, they'll be here tomarrow. I guess I'll find out for sure what they are when I get them apart and get some more casting #'s. Ones supposed to be a 359, and the other a 390. I figured since some of this stuff is getting hard to find, it be worth parts. Al
