Bass Pro Shops?

Anyone here ever been to one? I've HEARD of them, and I know they're huge, but I don't know anything else. It was just announced that they're opening one in my hometown of Auburn, NY, in spring 2004. Auburn's been on hard times for a number of years, and everyone's pretty excited about Bass coming in; this one store is expected to save the town. What can you tell me about them?

I think we have the original store in Springfield or Joplin MO. I've never been to that. However, they just built a "Cabelas" in Kansas City, KS. a little while ago and I visited it after it opened. The store is HUGE and is probably as much of a tourist attraction as it is a business. They have indoor fish ponds, giant aquariums, large wildlife exhibits you can walk through, not to mention the most impressive display of outdoor sporting goods I've seen anywhere. Anyway, I think Bass Pro is very similar, they almost built one here as well.

I've been to the one in Springfield MO. several times. You can spend the whole day there and not see every thing. They just added a new section on recently. Havn't been there to see what was added. They sell every thing to do with hunting and fishing. Boats, tackle, GPS, guns, archery, boots, etc., etc. They have people demenstrating fly making, glass making, etc. There is a huge aquarium where scuba divers go in and feed the fish. Any ways lots to see and do. Great place to take the family and spend $$$.

I ordered a scope from them. Very quickly I got a box in the mail. Hmmmn....it is kind of small for a scope. It was some fishing hooks that a lady on the right coast was supposed to get. She got my scope. They took care of it though.

Bass Pro Shop is a great store. I used to go to one all the time when I lived down in Houston. So much stuff in there you don't know what to do with yourself. They have all kinds of animals in there(mounted/stuffed) they have a big aquarium in there with all kinds of different fish. It really is a great store if you love the outdoors. And, you can even buy you a boat there.

They have one here in Atlanta...been to it several times even though it's a 35 min drive from my house. I love the store, it has EVERYTHING, but it is a tad on the expensive side.

I've been in two. One in Grapevine, Tx.(DFW) and the one in Nashville, Tn.

Both of them are great places to go. Oh, the deer on my '96 dash in my gallery came from them.

They are great . . . sometimes pricey. I think of them as a Toys R Us for rednecks.

You can bet that Bass Pro shops will revive the town. If you have ever been to the Cabelas store in Dundee Michigan, you know what I am talking about. The whole town is completly out of the way, and then you see where the Cabela family has made absolutely sure there will be a town for the store for a long time.
