I've got some sort of critter living in our kitchen sink, and I've never seen anything like them before. They're extremely small, about the size of the roller on a ball point pen, and can jump (or just fly & land really fast?) like the dickens, but they're not fleas or ticks! They're cigar shaped, and when looking from above them, they're flattened out, not thin like a flea is. I've only seen them during the summer, and I'll wash them down the drain, but 30 minutes later, they're back again. They don't bite, or cause irritation, they just kinda hang out and drown themselves in dishes that have water in them. I've scrubbed the sink with Ajax, poured bleach down the drain, and sprayed the whole kitchen with bug killer, and yet they come back.
it might be may flies or what ever... we have them here in okla and they are really annoying because they jump or fly around and like to land on your face. i might be wrong about that but it sounds like them.
One of the best bug killers (including wasps and yellowjackets) is Advance Auto or CRC reand brake parts cleaner. They may fly for a second but will die in a minute. It is cheaper than wasp and bug spray and it will kill them unlike wasp spray that the ask for more!
I also use it on boring bees, I use the nozzle to spray in the hole and if they come out they fall to the ground. Then I fill the hole with spray foam!
I have the same problem in my pool......ther're called Springtails. I found a site with people complaining about them all over their property but mostly in wet damp places.
get yourself a spray bottle, and use 1 table spoon of dawn, (I used palmolive) to 1 cup of water, I don't know what it is but it kills them instantly. keep up with them and spray a couple of times a day if you can.
hope this helps. http://www.faqfarm.com/Home/Pool/1047
