First off I am new to this web site and I am very glad I found it! I own a 98 EB Expedition and my auto leveler is getting noisy. I have an extended service policy, but the dealer refuses to fix it because they say it is operating properly, but they tend to get loud the older they get? Is there any truth in this?
Yes, it is noisy and it's probably within spec - the advantage is it only stays noisy for less than a minute (in most cases).
It really doesn't get much noisier with age, as far as I know, but some folks have made it quieter by putting sound-deading material around it. Also replacing the bolts and bushings helps.
No problem.. Maybe check this link out.. I put it all in my car and it's crazy quiet now.. Maybe just put this around the compressor (or does it get too hot??? - I don't think so since it runs like 1 minute)
