I have acquired a '94 350XLT crew cab 7.3IDI turbo w/auto trans w/o an owners manual. I have also found that the climate contrtol lights in the dash do not come on with the rest of the dash lights.
I suspect that the bulb/s are burned out but after taking a quick look I can not see an obvious way of getting at the back of the control panel.
The controls are locarted center dash below the radio and above the ash tray. They are of the 3 **** configuration as opposed to the sliding lever type that I have on my '89. Any suggestions or tips for getting at the blubs would be appreciated before I start needlessly removing the radio or other dash pieces.
Sounds like a problem you can live with till the manuals come in the mail. The manuals are not cheap, but if you plan on keeping this truck, and doing a lot of work yourself, they are worth it. These are the same factory manuals that the dealer uses.
Both lamps were burned out. Turned out to be real easy. Since no one offered any suggestions here's what had to be done to get at them in case someone else needs to know.
Remove the "XLT" metal trim that goes across the dash. Simply pry it up and lift it off.
Remove the two screws that fasten the top of the trim around the climate control panel and then pry off the bottom.
Remove four screw that hold climate control panel in and pull panel assembly forward.
Remove bulb holders and bulbs - replace. Installation is reverse of above.
