I recently bought an '03 "fleet" model Ranger... I wanted to check out the specs and stuff at ford.com but they don't list the Ranger in the fleet section... Any ideas where I can look? I know the specs are slightly different and when I try to plug what I know into the "build-yer-own-Ford" thing it won't accept it...
What exactly is a fleet model? Is it a generic vanilla model designed to be a one-size-fits-nobody or are they just "custom" trucks ordered in quantity? Are they as good as a regular model or maybe cheapened somehow? (I hope not!)
I bought mine new at a normal Ford dealer... I bought it because it was the cheapest Ranger there with a 7' bed and it has a full size spare... (My truck needs are pretty simple!)
Most of the fleet models are just "bare" trucks with no options. But really the only thing they are saying by saying it is a fleet truck is that a company rather than an individual maitained it? +/- depending on the company. As for the spec, just look at the regular cab ranger with no options. Fleet can also mean a company bought the truck, but it was just a regular truck.
Being a fleet model has nothing to do with maintanence. They are sold new as fleet models. A fleet model can have about as many options as you wan. (check out the 450+ fleet model options) I think it is just when large numbers of identical trucks are ordered. I am not sure though.
