So I was looking around one of the local ford dealers near my town, when low and behold I see 20-30 white plan jane xl trucks... Well tonight I was searching around some of the bigger dealership online fleet sales and was finally seeing what I want in a truck. A simple no frills (or bare minimum of them at least). So now this leads me to a simple question, Is it easy to buy a basic truck through fleet sales? I have honestly never thought about it. The prices seem a little better and I can get what I want without having to order one. Has anyone bought for themselves? I don't know why I have never thought to look at the fleet section of the dealership... Anyway it makes somethings easier I guess when it comes time to buy in 2.5 years (when my wife's car is paid for.) The really hard part is do I get the heavy half f150 or the gas f250. Either one would be 4x4, with vinyl seats and a super cab...
Some dealerships handle all ordered trucks through the fleet sales department. It might not be an "official" fleet sale but the process is basically the same. Go see them and tell them what you want, they can likely help you out.
When I worked at a Ford dealer 11-12 years ago, I recall some people ordering Super Duties through the fleet department, usually when someone would either want something that was generally ONLY obtainable through the fleet sales (certain cab and chassis) or balked at the options/packages that had to be ordered through the normal order process.
I don't exactly remember how they'd put the orders in for individuals, they probably just had a couple of fleet accounts they'd use to get Ford to accept the order.
