I know this has been talked about many times before but I had to tell my story. My '99 SD CC (55,000) had already had the thin teflon spacers installed in the leaf springs. I bought the truck used last Nov. and shortly the squeak was there. I found this board and a lot of info that helped. Eventually the squeaking went away and I thought maybe it was gone for good. Not so. Late July brought the squeak back and a pop was soon to follow. I took it to the dealer and they told me the swaybar linkage needed to be replaced and tip isolators (wedge shaped) installed in the springs. I have a service aggreement so the sway bar was covered ($50 deductable) but they wanted $118 labor to install a the $15 isolators. I talked with one of the service reps and told him that the problem had already been addressed, there were numerous incidences of this problem and it was a Ford design problem. He said he couldn't argue, I was right, and with a slight nudge on my part, he said he would talk to his boss. The next morning I get a call that my truck is ready. When I went to pick it up..."$50 please." The isolators were installed under the TSB. Thanks for all the information that was provided by all on this board. I knew enough to encourage the service rep to do some digging. Everyone was pleasant and happy. The truck rides much better now also. I hope the isolators keep the problem fixed.
I have been trying to find the part numbers for those plastic pads in the front leafs. Do you have any part numbers for those "tip isolators"? Or service bullitin #?
I have tried two different dealers. Aside from the funny looks,
the best I got was, I need to get the leaf spring in order to
get the 50 cent plastic part.. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I did a search for "squeaky spring" (and variants) on this site and copied 30+ problem specific posts in case the dealership wanted to balk. They didn't and all is right with the world.
I can't tell you how they were installed but I can tell you where and what they look like. The isolators are kinda pyrimidal shaped with a curved "base". The isolators fit between the two leafs with the curved (concave) surface fitted over the eye of the upper leaf. The skinnier flat side sits on the bottom spring. Mine already had a flat teflon spacer and they just installed the new spacers on top. Looks like to me you could just use a crowbar to split the springs and have a buddy pop them in. I don't know if that would work, I know nothing about suspension except it makes my ride softer.
Hope this helps. If I can figure out how to post a picture, I will. Give me a little time to work on it.
Thanks for the help guys, Trog I,ll kept a look out for the picture in the mean time I may give it a try, hated to try with no idea. Thanks again, Darren
Still working on the pictures. Seems I took too high a quality of pictures the first time. Now I've got to figure out how to take lower quality pictures. Patience please.
