The other day I Put my truck into 4 high used as I needed and put back into 2 high. Drove for about 120 miles no problems. Got to my destination and now I have very tough steering, and when I turn sharp enough I get a loud clunk and it feels like I am driving on pavement while locked into 4 high. I have auto hubs and I am wondering if my hubs are shot, is it a hub/stearing problem? I need help fast because I need to drive another 100 miles tommorow or the day after. Thanks for your help guys and gals.
With autohubs, you need to back up about 10 ft to release them when you unlock em.I believe this is the same for the t-case when you go out of 4wd to 2wd. If you did grenade your hubs...GET RID OF EM. Auto hubs suck and dont last for s**t. For about 60-75 bucks you can get a manual set that will go right in. If you have the 3 bolt bolt hubs you will also need to get a conversion kit. 5 or 6 bolt you dont need the conversion.
Oops sorry..more info, if you do have manual hubs, try the backup trick as well. If that doesnt work. Take out the piece that actually rotates inward towards the axle and see if it frees up then.
