4X4 failed when I needed it!??????????
>this one.
Excellent idea, I agree 100%
I thought that manually engaging the hubs from

No, your hubs may work perfectly, but if your switch/button doesn't or the actuator motor doesnt engage your T case, you have no "4x4" By manualy "locking" your hubs, your only engaging your front axle shafts, not the entire front drivetrain.
I had ESOF on my '92 f150. I only put around 5K a year on it and after about 5 years the ESOF started working very eradicallly. The only way I could depend on the whole ESOF system to work properly was to go out and put it in 4X4 high and 4X4 low every week or two.
Otherwise I would have a failure somewhere along the line
(the motor wouldn't turn - hit it with a hammer until it responded :-( , the relays wouldn't pick - remove the glove box and tap them w/a screwdriver until they responded
, the hubs wouldn't lock - rock back and forth between D and R until they decided to lock in
, etc.). As was pointed out earlier, there is a lot more to ESOF than auto locking hubs.
That is why on my F250SD, I got the manual TCase and hubs.

No!! Im comming over there right now with a sawzall and my torch, cutting your ESOF out and replacing it will full manual!!!!!
Everbody has a different application for their 4X4's, mine (plowing in the winter), I just feel more comfortable with my setup.
I'm not saying ESOF is unreliable, just more prone to malfunction, thats it, nothing more.
Also, I appologize for any comments that I might of made, it is not personal at all, and actually looked forward to your next post.
Welcome to FTE

If you're coming over, bring a leaf blower or a really big rake. I think I'll put you to work on the lawn a while... while you're at it, the gutters could use a cleaning too. But if you go near the truck, FTE member or not, the 12 gauge is coming out.
I treat my truck like I treat my women, and I never let another man handle my girls.By the way Yeti -- I've read quite a few of your posts on various topics, and (sigh) look forward to reading yours as well. I actually knew you by reputation from all the reading I did on FTE before I signed up & started posting myself. But enough of the mushy stuff! :P
I still think discounting ESOF is comporable to saying "never buy an automatic tranny, power windows, air conditioning, power steering..." Like you said, though, opposing opinions keeps things interesting. Who whas it that said "variety is the spice of life."
Now then -- does anyone know what it takes to convert manual 4x4 to ESOF? I'd like to do it to Yeti's truck one night while he's sleeping just to **** him off!
Contributions to this endeavour will be appreciated; please let me know if you can provide:(1) all balck outfits for sneaking around in the dark
(2) ESOF components
(3) sleep inducing gas to make sure Yeti's asleep during the whole process
(4) tools & experience in performing the swap

Heck, I bet Monsta would even give you a hand!! Just don't mess up the driveway, the wife will kill me again!!
Easy work for you guys, considering it doesn't fit in my garage.
-- CB calls Monsta's eXcursion an overgrown SUV on steroids, and Monsta responds by having a grill from an eXcursion & a bed cap welded on CB's 250. Will the calamity in truckville explode into an all-out bruhaha
, or will Monsta & CB find they have one very important trait in common (owners of Ford trucks) and resolve their differences
? Only one place you can find out... Join us next week on "As the Ford Turns" to find out.
P.S. -- What's this I hear about Monsta & pink panties? Gonna' have to search the threads later for that...

Ever since Monsta slapped me with that gag order, I can't comment.
But I'm sure some others may
No, actually...for real....I really was stuck for a while. After reading all the posts, I am realizing that the ESOF on my S/D just seems a little more sluggish than my F-150. On the F-150, the ESOF hooks right up, but on my S/D it is a little slower, but seems to work just fine. Thanks for all the responses, I am much more informed now than I was.

If he does that I will have know choice but to have forty get the chainsaw and head to the Monsta's house...And then to my house to cut that crap back off so I can go trade it in on an 03 (I would get near the trade in off a Soccer Bus).
>it! I'm coming over right now and towing your jeep away!:7

Well at least the JEEP has manual hubs! So no ESOF problems there thankfully.
