I use craftsman, Blue Point, Allan, Snap On, Brand X etc
And I will honestly say that I will never buy a set of tools just because someone's name is on them
But then again, there was a Dale Earnhardt Roll around toolbox with around 1000 pieces in it, that I was going to buy, but that was because the guy was selling it for only 350 bucks
I got beat to it
I was giong to turn around and resell it.
But oh well
Right now I just have a big mix of tools, mostly cheap stuff. I'll tell you one thing, if you're desperate for a tool and don't have time to run to Sears or Home Depot or wait for the Snap On truck, go to the Dollar store. Yes, I know it sounds funny, but I've had to do that before in a tight situation and those tools got me through it. Now I wouldn't use any of them for heavy work, but if you absolutely need a tool and you can't get a good one, they will work ok. I've lost count of how many dollar store screwdrivers I've broken or stripped the heads on. The wrenches are ok, but the ratchets are no good, the head will break off on them real quick.
Now on the brighter side, I think I'm getting a set of Crescent tools for Christmas, I suspected that yesterday when I went out to my father's shop to get a set of pliers for him, to take to Bojangles, since he locked himself out of his truck, and I saw this big box with Crescent on the label and a bunch of wrenches and sockets. No more dollar store tools if I can help it.
I have been a big fan of SK for years - life time warranty and I have only turned in one wrench (9/16 i was using with a cheater) and was handed a new one off the shelf. All I needed was "most" of the broken wrench. I too have a mix of good (3/8 & 1/2 inch socket sets, two sets of open/boxed end wrenches) and some el cheapoes (1/4 & 3/4 inch ratchet sets and other "limited use" tools). Would love to own some Snap-ons but as long as wrenching is only what I do when I'm "not working" I can hardly justify the price.
Just looked at the link - yep, Yuppie status symbol wrenches. Few key words missing like "LIFETIME WARRANTY", "MADE IN THE USA" and if you really want to get picky -"as seen used in his shop". More likely as not some cheap Tiawan crap, you would think he would know better.

Its worth it thou. When people ask to borrow something they get the std reply of I aint autozone, this aint loan a tool.
But not to be tooo heartless I will do what they need the tool for, for them. then take my tool(s) home w/ me.
