Flu

Sitting here watching the news while online and seeing all the flu stories. How many people got the shots? Are you as concerned as the media seems to be?

Haven't gotten a flu shot this year and so far have not been sick at all. I am not nearly as concerned as all the media hype. I rarelly get sick - missed only 9 day of work in 17 years and all 9 of those was for a severing broken leg (6 days hospitalized).

this flu shot is the biggest scam they openly admit the flu shot doesnt even get the strain this year so why bother. its like putting new tires on a truck with no motor

I have never had the flu. I never got the shot either up until two years ago. I work in the U.S. Coast Guard and they make you get them every year.

I can't remember my last flu shot, and I can't remember my last really bad flu. I did have a mild one this year.

I got the shot but still caught the bug. Easy to do since the rest of my family did not get the shot. For me the syptoms were not as bad. My one son still has symptoms and this is into three weeks. The point I try to tell them is that the flu shot WILL not always prevent the flu but will challenge our immune system to make antibodies so if we do catch the flu it will not be as bad as it could be.
I tell my wife you get tetnus shots but never get tetnus. The whole point of shots is to lead to minumizing diseases.

I haven't got the shot and don't plan to. For some reason, I don't ever seem to get the flu. I'd rather see my shot go to some old person that would have trouble fighting off the flu than myself.

My company buys us the vaccine and our nurse gives us the shot for free, so I get it every year. I've been putting off posting here with the same thought as above.... mention it and get it.

Didn't get the shot but I did get the flu as I was arriving at the ski resort. Spent almost the entire time in bed.
So much for winter vacation.

I haven't had a flu shot in years and also haven't had the flu for many years. I can't remember how long it has been. I do have a cold at the moment.

Did not get the shot, as I don't get sick often. Think I got the flu this time, though. Seem to be on the path to recovery now.

Actually, I don't know how you know for sure if what you have is the flu. In my case I assume so since I originally just was dead tired with headache and loss of appetite for a few days and AFTER that, I developed the cough, congestion etc. Seems the few times I get a cold, the sniffling, etc. comes right away. Who knows?

I'm don't know if the vaccine really works, but I do feel better knowing my 75 y.o. mother got her shot. If she got the flu, it would be very serious.

I wasn't concerned to begin with, but the government gave me a shot for free, so why not?

Now if they could only come out with a "common cold" shot...
