I got the shot through work. Was doing great up until last Wed. Then some kind of respiratory infection hit and it hit fast. HAd me out of work for two days. Just now getting back to breathing normally.
I generally get the flu or at least a very bad cold once in the fall and once in the spring. This year while at the doctors office for something else I just inquired if the flu shot was a good idea. I no sooner got the words out of my mouth when out comes the tray and needle - didn't get much of a choice after that. I will see if it repels my bi-annual weeks vacation. I was disapointed to learn that it doesn't stop the worst strain going around. I also felt a bit guilty for getting one when I started hearing of shortages and the elderly not being able to get one.
I got the shot
My teenager got the shot
Hubby did not get the shot
baby did not get the shot
so far no flu yet
but runny noses
I did not get it last year because I was pregnant and I got the flu
the year before I had it, and did not get the flu
Maybe its power of the mind
I've never gotten the flu shot either.
I may get one bad cold a year, but I haven't come down with the flu in a while. As for my kids, they have never received the shot either. But this year I called their doctor just to double check, and I was told that my kids are very healthy and are not high risk, and that it was not urgent for them to get the shot.
I haven't bothered getting the shot, the kids and wife haven't either. I could get the shot free at my company, but just about everyone I know who gets the shot still misses work, which means the shot is not that effective and/or most people miss work because of colds. I heard somewhere that the flu shot is about 24% effective.
