I have a question that I would very much like to have answered: Is converting a 2wd E4OD to a 4wd E4OD as "easy as" in "A", as "impossible as" in "C", or somewhere in the middle such as in "B" below:
A) They are the same tranny, so all one needs to do is replace the output housing with the 4wd extension adapter and bolt it to the transfer case.
B) They are basically the same tranny, but in order to convert, one needs to replace the 2wd main/output shaft with that of a 4wd, and of course replace the output housing with the extension adapter.
C) They are not the same tranny, the 2wd version has a different case, meaning it cannot be adapted to a 4wd version.
If the answer is "B", or something similar, please be as specific as possible in what parts and procedures are necessary.
E4od first gen solenoid pack in second gen transmission?
I have a 91 E250 xl windowless cargo van.
I want to install a second generation E4od 4x4 transmission into it.
My question is fairly straightforward.
Can I run a first generation E4od solenoid pack in a second generation E4od?
I want to convert this van to 4x4 and a 4x4 E4od make the mo$t cents...
Her independent front suspension is quite beefy.
But 4x4 is the plan.
