Hi and welcome to FTE
I don't see why you couldn't do it yourself.
Just remove the air cleaner housing to access it. You may need the safety torx bit with the hole in the middle of it to remove the sensor from the housing.
I take mine out of my Windstar about once a year to clean it. I have it out, clean up the whole air filter assembly and reassemble everything in about 1hr. It is set up basically the same as our trucks.
Oh, and when I had mine replaced under warranty last month on my truck,at the dealer, I was in and out in less than 45min.

When I put a new K&N stage II filter on my truck I was down to the MAF in nothing, the whole thing took about 1 hour and that was changing out more than the MAF. 3 hours sounds like way too long. If you are mechanically inclined I would give it a shot on your own. Let us know how it turns out!

Do's and Don'ts
Hello everyone,
I don't mean to steal the thread, but while on the MAF subject, will someone please post a do's and don'ts in cleaning the MAF. Like what solvent to use to clean, do I air-dry or not and do I reset the computer, etc. I've got 3 trucks and am trying to DIY (do it yourself) to save some money.
Thanks much. Safe driving to all...
