Dual batteries???

i have a 1984 bronco with a new 351w. anyway since i put this motor in i have went through 2 batteries. they constantly die. anyway im driving down the road yesterday and i pullover and shut it off for a minute. i went to start it and it just barely fired. i got home and let the motor cool. i started it up and it turned over like a new batterie. so im not sure if whats going on. i was wondering if running dual batteries would help to crank it over when its hot? im lost here so any input would help thanks guys

Have you checked all of youre grounds? Have you done a voltage draw test? If you do go to two batteries, you will drain two batteries. You really have to fix the problem. The dual battery will just become a large expense IMO.

The best way to go is if you have about 150 or 200 bucks to spend. You can go to a perminent magnet gear reduction starter. Also known as a Ford PMGR starter. Since this starter uses perminent magnets in stead of normal coils, it can take the heat and draws less amps from the battery.

You can check with these guys.

Definately starter overheating now that you mention how close the headers are. Heatshield or specialty starter for the high heat areas.

I don't have headers on mine, but use to have Cammaro with 475HP 350 in it. What I did is took the sol. wire off and made a connector out of 1/8 copper. The connector goes from the starter pos. stud and to the sol. stud. What I have found is the starter sol. heats up at stud and the small wire cannot flow enough amps to pull sol. in.
