Compression ratio for 460

Anyone care to tell me what my compression reading should be on my F250 with a 460? How much difference is acceptable between the cylinders?

That would depend on what year it is, but we will assume that it is a`74, so it would be approx. 8.5 to 1. `68 to `72 approx. 10.5 to 1. 8.5 to `73 and on.

Great reply, but I believe I asked the wrong question. I am trying to see what type of compression reading I should get while doing a compression test. Not sure how to state what I am trying to do I guess.

It's not so much what the compression reading should be but how much differance between cylinders. If all your readings are with 10% your probably O.K.
It's when you have 6 or 7 cylinders reading 140-145 lbs. and then find 1 or 2 reading 80-100 lbs. that's when you know you have a problem.
