Titan throws it's first punch
Everyone and their mother has 10 different stories on how realiable and great their Ford and Nissan is!
But no one can deny the fact that the Titan out performs the Ford. The Titan out accelerates, brakes, and out handles the Ford.
The Nissan will spank the Ford from 0-60mph with a 1000lbs in the bed! READ POPULAR MECHANIC TRUCK SHOOTOUT!!!.

<I'll tell ya what guys.... I am a meticulous maintainer of all of the vehicles that I've owned, the last 20 years. I've owned JeeP, Chevy, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, and a Ford (2), all trucks 4x4. Perhaps the worst suspension in the world, the poorest engineered truck, most cumbersome and most problems were both fords... a '95 Ranger and a '98 F-150. I own a '99 Toyota now, bought in 2002, and I will tell you that it might not be able to haul a house off of it's foundation, and doesn't look like a freaking BUS (like the new fords and dodge's), and it gets better than 10-12 miles per gallon (speaking of the BUSES). The truck rides like a dream, is quiet, and economical.... and most importantly I'm not bringing it to the shop every month/few weeks with problems. I'll stick with Toyota.... they know how to make a vehicle.>
<So all you Fixed Or Repaired Daily owneds, eat your truck and feeds our economy with your numerous mechanical problems. I feel bad for the two guys who bought my '95 Ranger and '98 F-150, but business is business.>

Both the Ford and the Nissan are good trucks.

Not liking a truck because of the way it looks or its name is...just dumb. Knocking a truck because it looks "ugly" is not a good reason to knock ANY truck, and it just makes you look like a 5th grader.
As for Titan sticker prices....they're brand new trucks, of course they're not going to be sold with huge discounts. Economics 101 - when demand is greater than supply, the price goes up. Likewise, when supply is greater than demand, price goes down.
Additionally, Nissan is still recovering the initial development costs of designing a new truck from scratch. I wouldn't be surprised if in a year or two, we start seeing lower prices once Nissan starts earning some returns on the Titan.
The "new trucks are designed for weekend warriors/urban cowboys." So what. It's obvious that Nissan and Toyota ARE going after that particular market, But so does Ford with the Lariat, King Ranch and Harley models, so does Dodge with the Laramie models and the Ram with 20" chrome wheels, and so does GM with the Avalanche/Escalade EXT. Thats where the market is headed, and thats what kind of trucks you're going to see. If you all want work trucks, get out your checkbooks and start buying.
"But the 'Japs' are stealing American jobs by setting up plants in the US" Really? How? How does employing all the line-workers, part-suppliers, not to mention the construction workers that built the factory, and the thousands of other workers who have jobs directly tied to a foreign owned plant, steal American jobs? The only thing it steals is profits, which are funneled back to Japan. But don't for a second think that Ford, GM and D-C don't do the exact same thing with their branch plants.
"If Nissan/Toyota set up American plants, what's going to make their quality any different from Ford/GM/D-C?" Non-unionized labor, thats what. If you know you could be out on your *** if you don't keep up the pace and quality, you're going to work a lot harder than you would if you were unionized.
The Japanese method of production seems to be a lot better in terms of QC than the traditional line. Japanese assembly workers work in teams, and the assembly line loops back and forth in U's, kinda like VVVVV. In each of the little Vee's is where one team operates, if one guy is having trouble, there are 4 others there to help him. In addition, each team has one person who's sole responsibility is making sure everything is OK before the car moves along to the next station.
On a traditional line, workers work individually and once the car moves along, its gone. So if Joe Blow wasn't able to tighten all those bolts in time before the engine made its way to the next worker....ooops.
I know this is a pro-Ford site where a lot of guys would rather give up a left-nut than drive something other than the Blue Oval, but I felt the need to counter-argue a few arguments, and God knows thats what internet BB's are for.
