Ok this ole boy just got pissed off cause he blew the motor in his 69 1/2 ton 4 wheel drive long box. it was an Fe with a 4 speed. well he got so mad he just gave it to me for nothing except hauling it out of his driveway. what will i have to do to make this my good gas milage rig?. Ill have to go see what gears its got tommorrow. but what would it take to put a 302 or a 300-6 in it?
I would appreciate any advice or knowledge
Chris
Thats too bad it would take that much to put a small block in it. Im not sure what he did too the motor. I havent yet got a chance to take a close look at it. I did notice that the frames in the back are twisted together a bit together. he said he slid down a hill backwards and hit a tree dead center. guess ill just heat em up and bend em back. I would sure hope for 12mpg or better with an FE in that thing. I get 10 with my 70 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive and its got a heavy flatbed and big tires and 4.10 gears.
maybe i should just build a nice flatbed for it, put a new 360 or 390 in it and sell it for parts money on my other one. it doesnt sound like it would be any more effeciant that my other money pit
