Newbie question here...I have a 2003 F-250, 2WD, LB, CC with 77,XXX miles on it. The last flash that my truck has had is the one that cycles the injectors for about 20 seconds after shutoff. I was talking to a friend of mine who has a 2004, and his truck was in for service, and when he got it back, it no longer cycled his injectors. Since then, he has had 2 failed injectors. I'm wondering if his failed injectors was just bad luck, or if it had something to do with the latest flash? My truck is due for oil and filter changes here soon, so I'm wondering if they reflash it, should I prepare for the similar fate? Or is there no correlation. Thank you for all your help and guidance!
seems to be just his luck. so far the new flash has been trouble free. The ect/eot moniter is also working as it should and letting you know about oil cooler issues ahead of time. also the over boost issues will set a wrench light and put the truck in derate.
all this is good

Sounds like you have the injector buzz flash. Your friend might have got the injector induction heating flash, which is believed to damage FICM's, which in turn can damage injectors. If that is so, your friend does not have the latest flash, just a flash that was later than yours. Reports on the latest most recent flash seem very positive. So far.
I have heard conflicting reports about the flashes. I was in touch with some programers and one said my 04 could not be flashed with the latest, that it was for 05 and up. Can anyone confirm this?
Thanks guys for all the helpful information. Is there a way for me to find out which flash is in my truck, or is that something that I would need to take to Ford and have them check?
Steve - I'm about 1.5 hrs north of LA. I don't have a programmer, but my friend with the injector issues does.
Just out of curiosity, I was looking in the TSB section on here, but couldn't find the TSB for the re-flashes. Are there any numbers or codes that I should know to tell my SA when I take my truck in, so that he knows what flash to do? Or do they always just do the latest flash?
Thanks again everyone!!

To my knowledge they can only do the latest flash. They can not go back. The one you want came out in Oct. 09 so you shouldn't have any trouble getting it. Ford no longer just updates them without a reason. The dealers here want a C note to do it if there is no warranty reason for the flash.

So in your opinion, or anyone else that wants to chime in, is the latest flash worth the extra cash?
I would have paid for it if it wasn't free just for the reason that it is supposed to reieve the strain on the ficm from the inductive flash that I did have. If you have an 05 or newer the eot/ect wrench lite warning is another good benefit. I also have a ScanGauge ll to monitor the ect/eot delta.
