When inquiring about extended warranties read the contract.
There are two sections of importance in mine:
(1) Covered parts: List specific items:
Engine: with a list of interenal parts.....
Transmission: with a list of internal parts.....
Etc:.....
(2) Parts and service not covered:
"All items specifically not listed"
Well my 1996 F150 XLT with less than 30,000 miles and 18 months into warranty, Clutch Slave cylinder went.
Because it's mounted internally on "THE BELL HOUSING" it's not part of the engine and it's not part of the transmission!
Sorry Charlie!!!
NOT SPECIFICALLY LISTED, NOT COVERED!!!
$800.00 bucks out of pocket for that little ditty.
This is my first time at this site. I have just purchased a 2003 F350 Diesel with a duelley. I have been researching extended warrantees for several days and one of the companies that could not cover me with a duelley suggested I ask at this site. Has anyone found coverage for this type of truck?
The engine and tranmission versus auxiliary parts is very problematic.
I knew someone who bought one of those Chevy trackers. A young kid who had little money but wanted a new vehicle. He bought the extended warranty.
Some part outside of the engine itself went bad and caused the engine to self destruct. Not covered. The dealer would not budge. Not even any small dollar amount for good will.
I guess the Ford extended warranty is the best but still buyer beware.

A Ford extended warranty is available for your truck, but it can be expensive. The DRW is not a problem, but there are some models that are not covered (F-450 and higher, for example), and there are surcharges for commercial use and snow plows. If your local Ford dealer won't work with you, then e-mail me and I'll get you a price.
