The manufacturer is NOT recommending overinflation. I think the confusion comes from thinking of Passenger car tires (tires that start with P in the size). P tires give a max inflation pressure. The Light truck tires (tires that start with LT in the size) that come on our trucks only have a max weight. If you don't believe me, go check some tires. LT tires will say something like "max load 3415 lbs at 80 psi cold". What that means is that in order to carry the max rated load of 3415 lbs, you need a MINIMUM of 80 psi. According to Firestone, you should put 90 psi cold in that tire if you are at max load and plan on extended driving at 70 mph.
