I have seen on a video that ford has a $90 bill for you if and when you need a new battrey as they have to reprogram some type of monitor they have in it. Anyone hear about this ?
It's probably a service charge to change it over from a standard (lead acid) battery, to an AGM. Why they would charge you for it if you were buying a battery from them is kind of a head scratcher... well, no, not really.
Just saw a video on different settings that may be draining your battery. It mentioned that the BMS(Battery Management System) has to be reset when you replace a battery. If you don’t do that the BMS doesn’t know you have replaced your battery and can limit the level of charge it gives the battery. The BMS limits the level of charging for old batteries to lengthen the battery life.

The BMS will auto-reset after sitting for a few hours. Usually changing the battery in the evening and letting it sit all night will reset it.
Otherwise, if your truck came with a lead-acid, yes the BMS needs to be told if you change it to an AGM. Or the other way around. Though most new vehicles come with AGM.
Ford is slowly getting there. My 2023 came with a flooded battery, my 2025 XL came with... thank Heaven... an AGM.
I'm glad - my 23 came with 2 AGM batteries. That's all I'm buying now. Armada, Accord, Rogue - all AGM batteries from Interstate. That's what my truck will get, when it's time.

Yeah I think they switched the diesels before the gassers in the SD line, my FIL's '23 as AGM batteries in it but it's an SO 6.7. I don't recall what's in the expedition but the Bronco is an AGM.

Yes... I know the diesels got AGM's in 2023... they were probably using the last of their stock up on the lesser gassers. As it turned out, the factory Motorcraft battery in my 2023 almost immediately started leaking... I had to pull it and wash everything down. Then I swapped it into the 2009 F-250, which I was selling, and dropped the aftermarket battery in my 2023. Once it goes, I'll be switching to AGM, and I'll have to reset the type using ForScan.

That didn’t matter on my 2018. I swapped in some AGMs and never changed a thing. These ‘23+ trucks…? I replaced mine with another lead acid, so no first hand testing from me this time.
My 23 HO batteries lasted 22 months. Started getting weird messages on dash. ie "Hill Descent turned off" "Cruise Control turned off" Batteries tested pretty good. O took it into an Interstate Battery shop to test. Tester said there was one very minor hitch. But he wouldn't recommend replacing batteries. Took it into Ford snf they said batteries were bad and I had them replaced ( I was 48,000 miles, so my dime) Not extra charge for any kind of programming.

Older trucks it doesn't matter, because they don't have a BMS that is watching the battery's state of charge and adjusting the charge profile. They put out what they put out.
The newer trucks with BMS though, have a different charging strategy between lead-acid and AGM. IIRC you can run lead-acid on an AGM profile, and the other way around, but it's not really good for the batteries to do so.

The dual-battery 7.3 gasser setups also got AGMs in 23. This is how my truck came from the factory.
