DYI'er Needs Suggestions
I wanted to go to 5w40 but after reading in the 6.7 Powerstroke section, lots of guys using 10w30 and having good results... and after speaking with a former Ford tech who now works at my buddy's shop who bought an older 6.7 Powerstroke that has nearly 300k miles and he still uses 10w30.
If you go to the 6.7 section, there are many opinions on what oil to use, what grade etc... you just have to find what works for you.
Guys who are in a warmer locale such as the south will run a 15w40. According to the Ford manual, anything used in a severe duty application should be running a 5w40 (synthetic). They say that use of any biodiesel, which most of the ULSD sold is a B2 or B5 fuel (which is not required to be marked at the pump), should be considered a severe duty use. I've been using 10w30 and have no issues with it.
I run the Donaldson P502503 oil filter and I let my truck tell me when to change the oil (it's always by 7.5k miles, but usually 7.1 to 7.4k miles >> I follow the 3rd oil change or by 22.5k miles for my fuel filter set change).
But most guys do 5k mile OCIs and therefore change the fuel filters at 15k miles. Use the Motorcraft FD4615 set only... there's a procedure to follow for the primary filter for what Ford calls the DFCM (diesel fuel conditioning module aka the primary pump and filter housing).
Loosen up the lower cap three times to break suction before draining as it will drain the tank, there's a nut on the bottom of the cap. The size escapes me at this moment but I have a socket for it specifically in my tool box. WIF (water in fuel) sensor has to be disconnected before loosening the cap.
Here's the lower part or cap that screws into the top part of the DFCM...
Here's a picture of it and Here's the link:

You can see the stop on the cap, circled here, that meets the stop that is on the upper part of the pump. They can be broken off so I use a flashlight to shine up there when it's getting close to the other stop...
I learned in the 6.7 section to put fresh engine oil on the new o-ring and cap threads to make tightening down much easier and also IMO, easier when it comes time for a filter change.
Ford says (6) priming cycles but after the first filter change I did to my truck with six priming cycles and it did not start right away, I went with at least double... usually go to (15) times... to purge the air out of the system.
I still have to flush my primary cooling system as I meant to do it last year but it did not happen... this year for sure.
Use the new Motorcraft yellow coolant. I have to do my son's 2015 Fusion 2.0EB first, to learn on his with the vacuum kit I bought on Amazon. Bought two cases of full strength Motorcraft yellow and will use distilled water only to dilute 50/50.
I also use fuel additives but more on that later. Check out the 6.7 Powerstroke section...
Good luck.
Any other questions, let me know...
If I don't get back here and you need something, send me a PM.
