Changed my fuel filter today and regained some spunk out of the old girl.
The old filter had about 26,000 miles on it and was completly Black. Won't let it go that long again.
Was just out in the shop cleaning up from a CV replacement in my DD tacoma not 30 minutes ago. Just stocked the "to do" rack with oil, oil filter, and fuel filter for my truck, this will be 15k. Good reminder!
Interesting.....my Dad never changed his out until 100K...........lol......I sometimes preach to him about PM. Coolant was recent... He has about 150k and has done very little maintenance. I wish I was closer.
Where is your dad located at, maybe one of us can, ummm, "help" him out.
My buddy with the late 99 is just as bad, but getting better, think he was just intimidated by the truck though. I posted a pic of his air filter last year when we did some long over due maint, when we did his turbo o-rings a month ago, it had been 1 year and 20k miles since he did an air filter, same plugged mess, so I put a 6637 on it, maybe seeing it will help him! Same goes for his fuel filter, I bet it was 50k or more last year, but did it closer to schedule this time, not pitch black, but dirtttyyyyy.

He has a big farm south of Lexington, Ky. He is a sharp guy and has his Doctorate in nuclear engineering. He is a lot sharper than I am but doesn't seem to maintain his truck like I would. He has a backup f450 flatbed if his other one gives out. I just wish I was closer to do some PM..I guess my next trip I have a lot of work to do....
thats crazy, I would say 99% of the engineers(any discipline) i have ever known are so **** about scheduled maintenance intervals like robots its almost scarey. i guess the farm setting might be part of it, I have seen it on many ranches here and farms when I was back east, ya just lube the hell outa it and run it till she quits, then change the plugged filter, but dammm.. Not sure where you are, but no closer to KY than i am it sounds.....

I guess that is the farm side of my Dad. He is way more educated than I am. He still asks me questions when his truck breaks down. He knows a lot more about farming and tractors than I do. He was lucky to retire fairly early and enjoy his passion about horses. My parents now have a house on the lake. Dad is getting a little older and slowing down.
Maybe its the famed 300 IQ thing, I have worked with some of the absolute smartest people in developing software, but they are so focused on things way beyond my talents, they miss the little things. It is all good though, it takes a huge mix of talents to make this world go round, we all have our talents, its the balance that makes it great, just like FTE, we all have different career aspirations, but we have that one common denominator that makes it the brotherhood.

That is a good point! We all share here and contribute to a sharing of knowledge. It's a great brotherhood we have here.
Well I broke down and called the steelership were my wifes cousin runs the parts department and ordered the sound deadener and boot right at $50.00 for both. They come as a package deal only way to get them.
Yea I now guys shame on me, Time just got away with me I won't let it happen again.
Mike and I are just funnin' with you.
I forget crap all the time. I have CRS big time. I'll write myself reminder notes and either forget to read them or worse yet lose them (or stick them in my pocket so I don't lose them and they end up in the wash).
I could stick a Post-It on my forehead and still forget to do whatever it says. Besides, when I look in the mirror it's hard to read.
