Does your speedometer bounce around also? Mine does and when I replaced the VSS unit on top of the housing my speedo still jumps around and the light comes back on when the speedo jumps around the 70 mph range.

That's a wierd one. Almost sounds as if you may have a bad connection on the back of your instrument cluster. If I remember right there is 2 or 3 push in wiring looms on the back of the IC. They may be loose or corroded. Sounds electrical.
