Crap gets worse every time! Tore the engine down today and replaced the injectors on the driver's side. Put it back together, went to forscan to do a Buzz test to see how it is, and Im getting 2 new codes. U0105 and U0306. I called FICM repair, FICM Fixer and thoroughbred diesel and they all believe its the FICM relay, and ordered a new one, but all said it could be the ECM. Im over $1500 in this thing as of now, another $65 for the relay which is on order and wont have till Thursday. If that isnt it, then its the ECM and flagship one has them for $622, plus I think it needs to go to the stealership to get the PATS programed?
I live over near Springfield. I'm probably not much additional help on the mechanic side since I'm pretty new to the 6.0L platform. However, if the FICM relay, ground, or whatever else is interfering with FICM communications to the PCM doesn't get fixed and you think it might be the PCM. I do have a spare PCM I can loan you. It has a DPU-252A hardware code and TBS5 tear tag. I am pretty sure it came out of a 2004 SuperDuty truck with an automatic transmission. I would think this would at least allow it to start up and probably drive, but it wouldn't have PATS or the other accoutrements of the Excursion loaded. I also have a clone copy of Ford IDS and a VCM II. In theory this could let you suck the image off your existing PCM and push it onto the replacement PCM. However, I've never done this and if the PCM code itself is bad, then it wouldn't work.
Thank you to everyone for your help! Still not running. Im getting zero to FICM logic power. I was told to check FICM harness to ground(harness from FICM to injectors) how do I do that, but for $100 Ill just replace it rather than testing it. Does the harness from the ECM to FICM go bad? How do I check for power and/or ground from the ECM to the FICM?
So far Ive installed a new FICM, 4 new injectors, FICM relay.
Prior to the injectors, it ran still with one cylinder down. After i got nothing. I just realized in my head I should unplug one new injector or all them on the driver's side at a time and see if FICM logic power comes back(I guess one of the new injectors could be bad!?)
To the gentleman in Springfield, Id love your help if you dont mind? If after checking everything Id like to try your ECM before buying one. I always feel Im mechanically enclined and smart, but damn this has me puzzled. Would take any logic or ideas anyone else have?
Ive checked all the fuses connected to the ECM and FICM and all are good too. Thank you guys!
The gentleman 4KIDS told me to recheck all my FICM harnesses to make sure they were fully seated and locked. While they were all locked and seated in the front, the back to the harness on the wire loom that comes from the ECM was backed out about 1/4 inch on one side, i disassembled it, checked it all, reassembled, and used super glue to seal it so it cant back out, reinstalled and then zip tied it on both sides of the one harness in back, and all is good! Got it all back together and runs perfect. Thank everyone for their help.
