I recently noticed a noise that occurs when I apply the brakes on my 2012 F150 Lariat 4WD (127,000 miles). It sounds like more of a 'groan' and seems to be coming from the front of the truck. After I've driven a few miles, when I apply the brakes, the groan seems to have gone away.

I had the following front brake work done 9 months/5,000 miles ago: new calipers, rotors, pads, fluid flushed/bled, and some hoses replaced.

My 4WD worked fine all winter - not sure if this eliminates an IWE issue or not.

AI has suggested a brake booster valve, misc rear brake issues, among other things.


Any suggestions ?

 

It's really easy to install brake pads incorrectly, they go only 1 way. Wrong and they're noisy.

 

I should have mentioned that the brake work was done at a Ford dealership ............... I know, could still have been done wrong.

But would an improper installation just start making noise 5000 miles later ?

 

you can guess all day long... your never going to know untill you jack it up, remove the wheel and look / test / check.
