Brake noise

Hey guys. I've got a wierd one. I replaced my front brakes and had the rotors turned about maybe 15000 miles ago. Now I get a grinding noise after driving the truck for awhile. I checked all the pads, front and back. Front rotors look fine. What do ya think? Warped rotor??

is it only when you apply the brakes you get the grinding noise or is it constant?? if its only when you apply the brakes then it may be a brake issue. if its constant, try looking at your front wheel hub/bearing assy.

Only when the brakes are applied, and only from one side.

have you narrowed it down to a single side? and is it front or rear? slim chance but have you checked for rocks that are sitting where the caliper/pads meet the rotor. a rock may be contacting only when brakes are applied.

I haven't but you'd think a rock would leave an impression or gouge on the rotor. They still look new. Seems like it's up front on the left side. It will pulse a little after 50 miles or so, but then after it's parked for a few hours it seems fine.

Here's an easy way to check to see if your rotors are warped.

Remove the tire. Take a spacer of somekind (a pen or pencil will work) and put it between the rotor and the splashguard. Rotate the rotor forward while monitoring the gap between the rotor and splashguard. If the gap changes, the rotor is warped. If the rotor rubs against whatever you are using as a spacer, you really need to get it fixed ASAP.

If the rotor's warped, wouldn't the noise/vibration be there all of the tiime?
