1955 F250 Bed configuration

I am having some back and forth on the bed strips with the vendor I bought them from. The bed strips I got appear to be too short. There are multiple versions of the story I am getting and trying to get some clarity.

Version 1

The bed strips are slightly shorter than the full length of the bed and a filler panel was used in the end to make up the difference. I believe this is accurate for the F100.

Version 2

The F250 having the longer bed did not use a filler strip at the end of the strips and they extended the full length of the bed. This is what I expected to get.

I am being told my bed was modified and that is why there is no filler panel but I don't think it was. They said they spoke to one of the ladies from Mid Fifty who said mine was modified and I should have had a filler panel.

Here are pics with comments. Any help getting a definitive answer would be appreciated. If you need more pictures let me know.

Here is where the bed boards fit into the end of the bed support.

I can't help you with a F250 bed. Do you still have the old bed strips? Or did you measure them before you scrapped them?

Great question. I did not save them as they were in pretty rough shape but I know they were full length. I will check my scrap pile and see if I kept one or 2 but I don't think so..

Well I can't help too much. I have a flatbed and I used tongue and groove boards.
That is what was on my original Knapheide bed.

Here is the original bed. I was dumb for not keeping it, but now I have a bed my son built so it's all good.
The boards were repurposed for a workbench.

The front ends of mine were rusted off
the only measurement I can get you was from the last cross middle member to the end of the bed is 17.5"
but from what's left of the wood and strips I'd guess the strips to be 93.75" long

in this pic they don't go all the way to the edge. Maybe split the difference in the front and the rear

Maybe put the strips fully to the rear cross member and make a steel, or maybe aluminum piece to avoid rust, piece to cover the gap at the front.

Not sure if it's helpful, but here is a shot from my 55 F-250. The strips run the length of the bed with no gaps.

Checking to be sure your front bed panel is fully installed to where it needs to be. Can it slide back at all!
