I ran my 6.7 Cummins until the oil was black and gritty. It survived. Skipped 2 oil changes and just refilled when it was low. I hope it blew up. But was fine when I quit.
My gas engine never even makes black oil. Brown at worst.

in my 2006 lbz duramax my oil would start getting darker at around 3000 km,but this was there last engine without emmisions,so we hit the road and the trip was 600km one way,at that mielage the oil was a darker brown but i can still see the cross hatch,when i returned home it finaly turned black,and just to let you guys know fuel prices in quebec canada was $2,55 per litre x 4.5 l drum roll = $11.47 per gallon
