This is a diesel?
5000 KM is super short for an oil change.
But, no, never seen one beyond brand new that the oil doesn't turn black immediately after running from new oil change.

Yeah, that's.... something! After an oil change I crank the truck for a minute or so and then turn it off and check it about 10 minutes later. The oil is already black at this first check...

I did recently install an Insane Diesel Bypass filter, but I don't expect it to make my oil look like it does when I pour it in!

Not sure how it isn't black, as a standard oil change does not get all of the old, dirty oil out of the engine. Seems like I remember seeing A-Rod or someone like that saying there is 1 - 1.5 quarts left in the engine when you do a typical drain plug oil change.

If emissions are still in tacked they the oil will blacken out once you do some regens. My 19 is deleted and when I change my oil it looks almost like it was new

The oil would stay cleaner if you used one without any detergents in it......

For the standard 2019 6.7, it should turn black rather quickly. A new engine would have an initial fill of 15 quarts while the routine change calls for 13. Two quarts of black dirty oil that is left over and mixed with 13 clean quarts will turn it black shortly after changing it and running it a bit. I know there are plenty of debates on whether to change the oil when it's warm versus cold but I change mine after the truck has sat for a day or so and as much residual oil as I can get has had a chance to drain back down in the pan except for areas where it will be trapped like the HPOP.

Hmm, that's interesting. Never seen that with my truck.

Then youre not changing oil correctly. Both my 310,000 and 400,000 plus miles trucks have clean oil after a change. 2000- 3000 MILES MAX. I change oil when its dirty, not by mileage.

Youre going too many miles between changes. If the crankcase is ' black' that quickly it needs to be CLEANED WITH ENGINE FLUSH. Black isnt oil...black is Crankcase SLUDGE =ENGINE DEATH

If I changed my oil every time it looks dirty (we are talking diesel ) I would need to change it weekly.

You must be talking about a different type of vehicle. As you can see from the posts in this thread (and elsewhere) it is normal for the oil to turn black in an intact 6.7l almost immediately after a fresh oil change. It has nothing to do with oil change frequency. It's my understanding that the modern emissions systems contribute to that. Oil in deleted trucks stays cleaner longer, from what I've read.

How long ago did you install the bypass filter? I'd suspect it's filtering out the soot and may need to be changed at an earlier interval?

clean oil

in my 2006 lbz duramax my oil would start getting darker at around 3000 km,but this was there last engine without emmisions,so we hit the road and the trip was 600km one way,at that mielage the oil was a darker brown but i can still see the cross hatch, when i returned home it finaly turned black, and just to let you guys know fuel prices in quebec canada was $2,55 per litre x 4.5 l drum roll = $11.47 per gallon

Uh...NO.
You are waaaaaaayyyyyy out there bud.
My current 6.7 PSD is at 276,000 miles and gets oil changed according to the monitor, and ends up being just under 10,000 miles(full synthetic).
My previous RAM 6.7 Cummins had 614,000 miles on it when I sold it, and it got 15,000 mile oil changes(dino oil).

If I was doing 2000-3000 mile oil changes, I'd be changing oil twice a month, sometimes three times a month, and would have gone broke years ago!
