So, I had this carb rebuilt by a local guy. I asked him to please give it back to me adjusted to factory specs. It did start, and sounds good, but there is fuel spilling out of this port on the top after revvving and letting go. Is that the float bowl overspilling? Do I just need to adjust the height? I figured 40 people will know exactly what is happening before I dig into the manual and watch 5 hours of YouTube videos. If I know the problem I will figure out how to fix it, I just need to save time diagnosing the problem. Thanks in advance! Oh yeah, It's an Autolite 2100.
Sound like the fuel pressure is lifting the needle/seat off allowing excess fuel to enter the bowl. I would check to make sure the float level was set correctly. Also make sure the float is in good condition.
It has a brand new stock fuel pump from NAPA... are you saying it may be too much pressure? I have a hard line from the pump to the carb and I don't want to cut it to install a gauge... I'll have to figure something out tomorrow because it got WAY WORSE. Check the video I uploaded.
I don't think your needle/seat is holding back the fuel. I would check to make sure something didn't get under the seat damaging it. Re-check bowl level.
Your fuel pump should be around 6-7 psi. Just remove it from the carb and make a connection there. You you will have enough fuel in the bowl to run it for a short period of time.
That is the bowl vent
The only way fuel will come out the bowl vent is if the level is too high
It either has a "heavy" float, or an incorrect float level adjustment
Debris under the new needle and seat also is a possibility
*All it takes is a good scratch on those phenolic floats to get "heavy" and sink in fuel
If it has a brass float, pull it out and shake it, see if it is full of fuel from having a pinhole in it
Probably ought to overhaul your own carb, seeing as you still had trouble with it, having it done
It was the fuel pump. I rented a pressure tester and it was 12+ psi. I put the old pump back in and NO MORE OVERFLOWING.
Thanks for the help, everyone!
